Southampton fans were far from happy with the news that Ralph Hasenhuttl is set to use Nathan Tella as a striker this season rather than on the flanks.

After a slow start to the transfer window, the Saints have been very busy in recent weeks.

They have now brought in five new faces, two of which are strikers in Adam Armstrong and Armando Broja (Sky Sports). Even with the sale of Danny Ings to Aston Villa (avfc.co.uk), the Austrian still has plenty of options up front if you also include Che Adams, Shane Long and Michael Obafemi.

Tella is an up-and-coming player at St. Mary’s Stadium, having made 22 appearances for the club last term (Transfermarkt). He is mainly a right-winger, but Hasenhuttl has decided to use him as a centre-forward after the 22-year-old impressed in training (via The Athletic).

The news was shared on Twitter by @SaintsExtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from the supporters. They took to the social media platform to share their thoughts.

O atacante teve problemas disciplinares no começo desta temporada, mas a falta de uma proposta concreta pelo atleta inviabilizou o negócio e garantiu a permanência.

Com 34 gols em 111 jogos com a camisa do Botafogo – sendo artilheiro do time em 2017, com sete tentos – Sassá foi titular nas duas últimas partidas. Contudo, ele passou em branco nos dois jogos (Sport e Barcelona), pouco aparecendo.

قرر الاتحاد التشيلي لكرة القدم الطعن على قرار الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم، بشأن عدم استبعاد منتخب الإكوادور من منافسات نهائيات كأس العالم في قطر 2022.

وكان الاتحاد التشيلي قد تقدم بشكوى إلى فيفا من أجل استبعاد الإكوادور من مونديال قطر، بسبب وجود تزوير يخص اللاعب بايرن كاستيلو.

وأشارت الشكوى إلى أن تشيلي قامت بتزوير يخص اللاعب المذكور، فيما يتعلق باستخدام شهادة ميلاد مزورة وإعلان كاذب عن عمره وجنسيته، حيث إنه يحمل الجنسية الكولومبية.

وشارك كاستيلو في مباراتي الذهاب والإياب من تصفيات أمريكا الجنوبية المؤهلة لكأس العالم، أمام تشيلي.

ورغم ذلك، فإن الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم أعلن اليوم رفض شكوى تشيلي، وهو ما يعني مشاركة الإكوادور بشكل طبيعي في المونديال.

ولكن الاتحاد التشيلي قرر عدم الاستسلام، حيث قال رئيسه بابلو ميلاد في تصريحات صحفية: “نحن ننتظر مبرارات حكم فيفا من أجل تحضير الاستئناف”.

وأضاف: “ما حدث هو أمر يثير الدهشة، رغم الأدلة الموثقة، علينا أن ننتظر التبرير قبل أن نقوم بالاستئناف”.

وواصل: “نحن على استعداد لاستخدام جميع الأدوات القانونية المتاحة، ولهذا السبب قررنا أيضًا الذهاب إلى محكمة التحكيم الرياضي (CAS)”.

وأردف: “إنها عملية طبيعية، عندما تكون هناك أدلة مؤكدة وقانونية، سنستمر بنفس القوة والقناعة”.

واختتم تصريحاته قائلًا: “شعوري وكأننا في الشوط الأول من المباراة وخسرنا 1-0، ولكن ما زال أمامنا شوط ثاني”.

يسعى الجهاز الإدارة بنادي الزمالك لترتيب عودة سيف الدين الجزيري مهاجم الفريق إلى القاهرة بعد انتهائه من المشاركة مع منتخب تونس في بطولة طوكيو الودية الدولية.

وكان منتخب تونس قد نجح في الفوز بالبطولة الودية بعد تغلبه على اليابان بثلاثة أهداف دون رد بالأمس.

The Hoops have now recorded three victories on the trot and have totted up back-to-back clean sheets. Both of those were rarities last season, so Ange Postecoglou’s men should savour that.

That being said, Celtic will have to be wary this weekend because their opposition are Hearts, a team who caused them grief on the opening day of the Premiership campaign.

The Bhoys were miles from their best as a late goal from John Souttar ensured a losing start to Postecoglou’s league reign two weeks ago. However, they are now in a very different place after scoring 13 goals in their last three outings across all competitions.

Their new signings have hit the ground running too, but one player who is yet to be seen at Parkhead or in Celtic colours is James McCarthy. The Irishman signed on the same day as Joe Hart, but with no pre-season minutes under his belt having been a free agent, he is some way behind in terms of his fitness.

Postecoglou has claimed that it could be a while before we see the midfielder in full action, but with the League Cup right around the corner, now feels like the perfect time to hand him his Hoops debut.

Celtic didn’t win a single trophy last season, so the cup competitions will hold a little more significance than normal. However, with weary legs setting in against Jablonec last Thursday, the manager may favour rotation.

Tom Rogic stood out in that match but tired significantly. With an important clash with AZ Alkmaar coming up, the Australian should be given time to recover with McCarthy coming in.

The former Crystal Palace man won’t be completely fresh himself but he’s an experienced campaigner who should be able to replace him and perform reliably at the base of midfield. Dubbed “top-class” by Postecoglou, the 30-year-old could be the heir to Scott Brown in the middle of the park.

Callum McGregor has performed admirably in a deeper role but McCarthy is more accustomed to playing there. During his last full season with Palace, he won 2.5 tackles per game, proving that he can stick his boot in and win the ball when it matters.

On that evidence, the 30-year-old might be the perfect player to combat Hearts, so Postecoglou needs to hand him some sort of role on Sunday.

Cricket academies are sprouting all over the landscape in major (Test-playing) countries, as well as some minor ones. In India and Pakistan, inspired by the hit movie “Lagaan”, villagers are switching from their traditional gilly-danda to the more contemporary bat-and-ball sport of cricket, and worldwide cricket coverage via broadcast TV is supporting their aspirations for better things.Most cricket experts in the USA would agree that the 25-over format is the best one for junior cricketers. In their view there is simply too much hoopla and tamasha associated with the Twenty20 format, too many firecrackers, too much raucous music and hijinks at high decibel counts, even imported cheerleaders from the USA, for vulnerable minds not to be stretched to their breaking points. Better, they say, to go with a twenty-five over format, with smaller but more attentive crowds, under quieter skies and on well-manicured turf pitches, which is more like – well, cricket as it should, indeed must, be played.But first, some context – and some definitions.The term “junior cricketer” is usually applied to players under 15, who have been receiving intensive coaching and training since age 5. They typically play full seasons of cricket, matching the schedules of senior cricket leagues in their area – intensive practice at least three times a week after school, followed by matches where team members are rotated so each player learns the capabilities of every other player on the academy’s roster. Careful stats are maintained on each player’s match performances, and these are reviewed by selectors when it comes time to pick a side for an international ODI match. Controversies do occasionally arise over selections, but these are resolved with pencil and paper – rather than with fisticuffs, as sometimes happens in US Little League baseball.The composition of a typical junior squad is also different from their senior equivalents. In addition to a coach, manager and physio, there is a team “mom” who takes care of feeding, clothing and administering TLC to heartbroken kids whose match performance failed to rise to their own expectations. This leads to some odd situations, like the team mom who refused to let her team take the field until all players were properly dressed, and was heard bellowing from the sidelines to have her players tuck their shirts in before play could commence.So, how good are these well-trained kids against their international opponents? The stats tell the story. In the last ten months, they have not lost a single match against any team except (who else) the Australian U-15s, who are arguably the best U-15 team in the world today, bar none. Even there, the two-match series was a thriller; losing their first match by one wicket, Team USA recovered to take the second match by two wickets. The Aussies were so impressed that they promised to return the following year, and were even talking about a bilateral series to be played alternately in Australia and the USA.Whether this will actually happen remains to be seen, but the point is made – 50-over cricket is here to stay, and the California Cricket Academy which pioneered the concept deserves full credit for that singular accomplishment.

According to an update by reliable club source ExWHUemployee, West Ham United could explore a deal for Slavia Prague forward Abdallah Sima after they were knocked out of the Champions League – with there being a ‘strong chance’.

The Lowdown: West Ham in forward hunt…

The Irons have been chasing a new centre-forward since the January transfer window.

Manager David Moyes confirmed that bids had been lodged for the likes of Youssef En-Nesyri at the start of this year to no avail, with the search for a striker hardly looking any more successful in this summer window.

August 31 is fast approaching, and despite some whispers of talks and advanced agreements for certain attackers, it doesn’t appear like anything is closer to being done.

Writing on his Patreon, ExWHUemployee now believes that West Ham may be presented with a signing opportunity after Slavia crashed out of the Champions League.

Both defender David Zima and forward Sima could be targeted by the Hammers and Ex believes there is a ‘strong chance’ West Ham ‘will go in’ for the latter man.

The Czech club’s chairman, Jaroslav Tvrdik, explained to Ex via Twitter that he would not leave in January but ‘could in the summer’ – with West Ham now potentially gifted the chance to explore a Sima deal.

The reliable Irons insider also explains that he could be seen as a ‘perfect alternative to Antonio’, especially given Sima operates as both a winger and a forward.

The Verdict: Get it done…

While no formal approach or registered interest has been made just yet, we strongly advise West Ham to go in for the move.

The 20-year-old, who bagged 16 goals across all competitions for Slavia’s first team last season, has also been called a ‘phenomenon’ by their club chairman – marking him out as an exciting prospect.

Sima also has the physicality to succeed in Premier League football, standing at an imposing 6 foot 2 despite his youth, but much will depend on the potential transfer fee.

Valued at around £9.9 million by Transfermarkt, there is an argument that a valuation in and around this figure could be doable for West Ham – though it remains to be seen if GSB would be willing to invest that much in a player relatively unproven at the top level.

The series doesn’t start until next July, but Pietersen said after opening his account against South Africa that “if we play like we played this week, we’ll beat Australia”.”I’m pleased that he is thinking about us already,” Nielsen said in the Age. “We’ve got a couple of big series coming up that are taking up most of our thinking at the moment, but we’re certainly very aware that in 12 months we’ll have an Ashes series on the go, and we’re very much looking forward to it.”Australia have a Test campaign against New Zealand in November followed by home-and-away contests against South Africa before they head to England.
