Um dos principais nomes do time do Santos, Vanderlei renovou seu contrato na noite desta sexta-feira até 2020. O goleiro, que se destaca pela sua regularidade, demonstrou felicidade pela renovação e está focado em fazer uma boa temporada.

– O Santos vem se estruturando em todos os setores, fazendo um grande projeto. Estou realizado por ter oportunidade de ficar mais um tempo no Santos, um clube que todo atleta quer jogar, clube de tanta expressão. Fico feliz de renovar e poder dar sequência no meu trabalho. Creio que será um grande ano para todos. O Santos vem contratando muito bem e também manteve a base. Espero estar nesse projeto também, com a assinatura do contrato, fazendo o meu melhor para ajudar – afirma.

Vanderlei foi contratado do Coritiba, sem custos, no início de 2015. Considerado um dos destaques na posição, o arqueiro fez 112 jogos e sofreu 110 gols.

O camisa 1 é titular desde que chegou à Vila Belmiro e só deixou o posto ao sofrer uma lesão na face, em 2015, em que precisou ser operado.

Celtic aren’t the only side interested in snapping up the 28-year-old on a free transfer.

Championship sides Cardiff City, Nottingham Forest and Millwall all held initial talks with the free-scoring forward, who his former manager Phil Parkinson hailed as ‘excellent’, however, reports have suggested he is ‘very keen’ to join Celtic.

The Hoops appeared to open talks with the striker on Thursday, and it seems as if discussions are going well.

The Verdict: A possible shrewd addition

Should Celtic get a deal over the line for Wyke, it could be a solid first signing for new Celtic CEO Dominic McKay and manager Ange Postecoglou.

The pair met in London on Friday to continue preparations for the new season, so Wyke could have been on the agenda for the two.

He scored 30 goals last season in all competitions, more than any other Celtic player. Wyke’s Sunderland deal was also thought to be worth £6,400-a-week, considerably less than a number of Hoops players.

So, on that basis, a free transfer for the Englishman could be a shrewd acquisition going forward.

The Lowdown: Reubens part of takeover consortium

The Reuben brothers are part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) consortium looking to take over at St. James’ Park from Mike Ashley, along with KSA crown prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), the country’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) and businesswoman and head of PCP Capital Partners Amanda Staveley.

Ashley has launched two separate claims against the Premier League over the failed deal between him and the group, an arbitration case that is set to take place over the course of the coming months, as well as an anti-competition lawsuit.

The Latest: Reubens insight

Writing in his latest piece for The Chronicle, Ryder has shared that the Reuben brothers are patiently waiting on developments in Ashley’s legal battle with the English top flight, just like PIF and Staveley.

A positive result in the forthcoming arbitration hearing could persuade them to come back to the table along with the rest of the consortium, while a negative one may well end all interest.

The Verdict: Arbitration key to Newcastle’s future

The results of the arbitration proceedings are certainly key in terms of the direction that the takeover bid is heading, and thus the entire future of the Toon Army.

While the timing of the case is certainty not ideal for the Magpies, given that the summer transfer window has already begun and the new season is set to start in August, a positive result could accelerate the whole takeover process.

If this is the case, then the North East club could be quietly optimistic that a deal could be pushed through soon after the hearing, which would come as a delight to the Toon Army.

Nonetheless, the Reuben Brothers, along with the rest of the KSA group, will be keeping a close eye on the proceedings.

No fim da noite desta quinta-feira, a Federação de Futebol do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (Ferj) respondeu o ofício enviado pela Procuradoria do Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva do Rio (TJD-RJ) sobre o caso envolvendo o Vasco. Há questionamentos sobre possíveis irregularidades nas escalações de Jean e Gilberto na partida contra o Resende. Vice-presidente de futebol vascaíno, Eurico Brandão, mais conhecido como Euriquinho, filho do presidente Eurico Miranda, garantiu que não há erro.

– O Vasco não pode responder o que alguém colocou, imprensa, outro clube…. Precisamos que os órgãos competentes falem. Posso afirmar que o Vasco não está errado. Se fizerem a denúncia, vamos montar nossa defesa – destacou Euriquinho, sendo completado por Paulo Reis, vice jurídico do clube:

– O jurídico não faz registro de jogador. Quando há um problema, o departamento de registro consulta o jurídico. Como não me procuraram, estão confiantes no que foi feito. Não fui consultado sobre isso. Acho que não vamos ter problema nesse assunto.

O LANCE! procurou André Valentim, procurador do TJD-RJ, e ele afirmou que ainda não tem conhecimento da resposta da Ferj, o que fará na tarde desta sexta-feira.
