أشاد جمال علام رئيس الاتحاد المصري لكرة القدم، بأداء لاعبي المنتخب الوطني ومديرهم الفني البرتغالي كارلوس كيروش في بطولة كأس أمم إفريقيا 2021.

وخسر منتخب مصر لقب كأس الأمم الإفريقية إثر الهزيمة من السنغال بركلات الترجيح في المباراة النهائية التي أقيمت بالأمس على ملعب أوليمبي بالعاصمة الكاميرونية ياوندي.

وقال جمال علام: “كيروش هو يستمع ويتابع كل ما يحدث وتصل له كل المعلومات التي تقال عنه سواءً كانت صغيرة أو كبيرة، وقال طالما أنا قبلت فسأتقبل النقد ولكن يجب أن يكون موضوعيًا”.

وتابع: “أخبرنا كيروش أننا ندعمه ونسانده ولم نأتِ لكي نصفي أي حسابات، ويمكن ظهر ذلك في تقدم تصنيف مصر الذي سيساعدنا في الفترة المقبلة حتى لو لم يسعفنا الآن”.

وتابع: “كيروش لديه فكر ووعي وأخبرني في بداية الأمم الإفريقية أننا سنلعب 7 مباريات وبالفعل فعل ذلك”.

وأضاف: “ربما تكون الصحوة متأخرة من اللاعبين، لكن نعدكم بتقدم مبارتين قويتين إن شاء الله في التصفيات المؤهلة لنهائيات كأس العالم”.

وعن الملعب الذي سيستضيف مباراة الذهاب بين مصر والسنغال رد رئيس اتحاد الكرة: “سنتحدث مع الجهاز الفني لتحديد الملعب وسنرى أيضًا ما هي الوديات التي يرغب في خوضها وسنعلن كل ذلك فور اتخاذ القرار”.

وفيما يتعلق بالضغوط على اتحاد الكرة في الفترة السابقة تحدث: “كان يوجد مطالبات كثيرة جدًا منها تصنيف المنتخب المتأخر وكذلك لم يضع أحد في حسبانه وصول المنتخب لهذه المرحلة، لكننا دعمنا الجهاز الفني لأخر لحظة وكذلك اللاعبين”.

Speaking to Football Insider, pundit Frank McAvennie has dropped a major claim on Tottenham Hotspur’s sacking of former boss Jose Mourinho – going on to say he’s been told it had something to do with the now suspended European Super League.

The ESL caused shockwaves throughout the footballing world when the Premier League’s ‘big six’ announced they would be a part of the new European footballing division as founding members.

McAvennie drops claim on Mourinho sacking

However, following huge backlash from the media and supporters alike, those sides announced they would be pulling out – with Fabrizio Romano first reporting that the ESL has been officially suspended (Twitter).

McAvennie, dropping a claim on Mourinho being sacked by Tottenham Hotspur on Monday, believes his dismissal was related to Spurs’ original involvement in the ESL.

“I’ve been told that Mourinho’s sacking had something to do with the new Super League,” he explained to Football Insider.

“Obviously we can’t confirm that but Tottenham saying that it was a purely results-based decision is nonsense.

“The week going into a cup final? No chance. No chance you sack anyone. Jose will have told [Daniel] Levy that this is all a load of nonsense and Levy wouldn’t have that.

“He wants money, if it’s going to happen he wants it to happen. Mourinho knows the fans are the lifeblood of the game.

“I’m telling you, if there’s one person who can find a way to beat Man City in a cup final, it’s Mourinho. I don’t understand the logic, something else must’ve happened.”

While McAvennie holds this belief, many reliable journalists close to the matter believe this isn’t the case – so take it with a pinch of salt.

Alasdair Gold is one of them, and he understands that the club’s decision had ‘nothing’ to do with the ESL and was purely a results based decision.

The hunt for a new manager, however, could now begin after Tottenham confirmed Ryan Mason would take charge only on an interim basis.

Julian Nagelsmann and Brendan Rodgers appear favourites for the role, and we believe that the former is a prime candidate.

Described as the most exciting coaching talent in Europe, Sky Sports also believe his appointment could be ‘the smartest move that Daniel Levy and Tottenham could possibly make’.

Nicolas Tagliafico is the sort of ‘big-name player’ Leeds United need to sign this summer, according to former Premier League defender Alan Hutton.

There are a number of areas of the pitch that Marcelo Bielsa may be looking to strengthen in at the end of the season, from central midfield to wide positions.

It looks as though Leeds could be a little sparse at left-back come the summer, however, with Ezgjan Alioski expected to leave Elland Road and Stuart Dallas becoming more and more crucial in midfield.

The Whites have been tipped to sign a number of players in that position, but Ajax defender Tagliafico is the name who has kept appearing in recent weeks.

Pundit talks up Leeds’ interest in Tagliafico

Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton, who can often be heard on BBC 5 Live, claimed the 28-year-old would be an ideal addition to Leeds’ back-line, due in part to his pedigree:

“He’s a big-name player, isn’t he? I read about it when it first kind of came up.

“It’s a position for me that Leeds need to go and sort out. Obviously, the boys who have filled in have done well and that’s no slight on them.

“But to really progress in such a tough league, you need the right players in the right positions. I think going for the likes of Tagliafico, who’s done it at a high level, that’s the standard where Leeds see themselves at now.

“They’re really looking to kick on which is a good thing for the league because they’re such a good watch. Nine times out of ten you get a right good game when they’re involved.

“They’re obviously looking to next season to progress and do even better, which is brilliant for everyone. That’s a good standard of player they’re going for.”

Signing Tagliafico would certainly feel like a signal of intent from Leeds, considering he is a 27-time capped Argentina international valued at £22.5million.

He has experienced World Cup matches and big Champions League nights – he started against Tottenham in the 2019 semi-final – so his success in the game could rub off on those around him at Elland Road.

Tagliafico should still have a number of years left in him at the top level, too, so he looks a tailor-made replacement for Alioski.

Na nota o Figueira agradeceu “todo o empenho e dedicação dispensada pelo profissional nesse período”. Cleber chegou ao clube em 2012, quando foi gerente das categorias de base.

Em 2013 tornou-se gerente de futebol profissional, assumindo, na sequência, o cargo de superintendente de esportes. Enquanto esteve no departamento de futebol profissional, Cleber participou do acesso à série A em 2013 e do bicampeonato estadual em 2014/2015.

Xisco Munoz’s Watford side head into their weekend fixture having already secured promotion to the Premier League, but know that only a win will maintain their hopes of clinching the Championship title.

Having beaten Millwall 1-0 last time out, Watford remain five points behind the Championship leaders Norwich City in the race for the first place.

While a Norwich win would make it mathematically impossible for the Hornets to be in with a chance of clinching the title on the final day of the season, Xisco will still be hoping for a victory against Brentford at the Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Considering the fact that the title is still to be played for, as well as the challenge of Brentford not being an easy one – with Thomas Frank’s side undefeated over their last 10 league games – we expect Xisco to field a strong XI, making two changes from his starting line-up against Millwall.

Firstly, Kiko Femenia – who was withdrawn 31 minutes into the Millwall clash due to injury – is replaced by Craig Cathcart at right-back, with the 32-year-old putting in a solid performance  during his hour-long runout against Gary Rowett’s side.

The second change sees Dan Gosling drop out of the XI, with 26-year-old Philip Zinckernagel coming in as the third central midfielder, as none of Gosling, Carlos Sanchez or Nathaniel Chalobah particularly impressed against the Lions.

The front three remains untouched, with Joao Pedro retaining his centre-forward berth ahead of Andre Gray.
