وقال مجدي عبدالعاطي في المؤتمر الصحفي عقب المباراة: “الحمد لله على الفوز والثلاث نقاط بعد ثلاث هزائم متتالية، أدينا مباراة جيدة وفي الشوط الاول كانت لنا الغلبة وأضعنا ركلة جزاء”.

وأضاف مجدي عبدالعاطي: “كنا نحتاج الفوز من أجل عودة الثقة للاعبين، الفريق ينقصه اللمسة الأخيرة وسيتم تداركها في الفترة المقبلة بالإضافة إلى أن مكسب اليوم يضعنا في مكان مميز بالجدول”.

وأوضح عبد العاطي أن النتائج السابقة لم تكن على قدر الأداء الذي بذله اللاعبون، مشيرًا إلى أن الفريق تنتظره مباراة صعبة أمام الاتحاد السكندري وهو فريق كبير ومنظم.

وأتم: مكاسب مباراة اليوم هي الخروج بنظافة شباك الفريق وإحراز أحمد شريف أول أهدافه مع الفريق، الكتيبة تم تكوينها بشكل جيد، ومباراة تلو الأخرى ستأتي الثقة أكثر للاعبين.

Glasgow Rangers’ incredible run of form continued on Thursday afternoon as Steven Gerrard’s side secured a top seed position in Monday’s Europa League last 32 draw after they beat Lech Poznan in Poland to win Group D.

The Govan-based Glasgow giants have now won four of their past five fixtures in all competitions and they sit at the top of the Scottish Premiership – with 13 points separating them from second-placed Celtic.

McPake has made a bright start to life in the Championship, having made eight appearances in all competitions with two assists in total for the Ton so far this season, which is as many as Jones has managed since he first arrived at Ibrox from Kilmarnock in 2019.

The former Morton manager reserved special praise for the Scotland U19 international after he made his first-team debut, saying “I thought he was excellent” and adding “the boy’s got a fantastic chance in football”, whilst academy coach Graeme Murty was effusive in his praise for the young winger, as he insisted: “He’s got lots of ability and he’s very elusive.”

Despite his age, the 19-year-old speed demon clearly isn’t a player who goes missing, unlike his older teammate.

Therefore, it’s imperative that Gerrard and Ross Wilson recall McPake in January, otherwise they risk hindering his development, as he has now lost one of his main allies in the dressing room.

Manchester United may be about to land one of the bargains of the January transfer window by bringing in Moises Caicedo from Independiente del Valle.

What’s the word?

With Paul Pogba heavily linked with the Old Trafford exit and Donny van de Beek having so far failed to hit the ground running, United’s need for an attack-minded midfielder has arguably never been greater.

United have taken full advantage of the January transfer window in recent times with Bruno Fernandes turning out to be a total revelation ever since he first arrived at the Red Devils from Sporting Lisbon at the start of the year.

And they could be about to add yet more firepower to their midfield in the shape of Caicedo. Renowned transfer guru and journalist Fabrizio Romano claims “his contract won’t be a problem” which suggests that the ball is very much in United’s court, and if Ed Woodward can get a deal over the line, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could set his side up very nicely for the rest of the season.

While Caicedo is primarily a defensive-minded midfielder, he can also play in a more central role or even further up the pitch (like he did during his international debut in the World Cup qualifier against Argentina), which is precisely the sort of free-roaming option Solskjaer has taken a shining to just like Fernandes and to some extent Pogba as well.

Equally capable of dropping deep to break up attacks or carry the ball forward into the opposition half, the 19-year-old could work in tandem with Scott McTominay in the midfield to protect the defence at the back and build up a partnership in the years to come akin to Solskjaer’s former teammates Roy Keane and Paul Scholes.

It’s claimed United have reportedly reached an agreement with the Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle for a £4.5m deal for the teenager. However, they face stiff competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea for his signature, with Frank Lampard also keen to secure his services.

Given his age, the Ecuador international is obviously intended to be an investment for the future, but there’s no doubt he’d be able to land firmly on his feet and hit the ground running at Old Trafford, as he has scored six goals and supplied two assists across all competitions so far this season, via Transfermarkt.

With Chelsea waiting in the wings, Solskjaer must push Ed Woodward to wrap up a deal as soon as possible.

Manchester United kickstarted 2021 in style after a customary penalty from Bruno Fernandes condemned Aston Villa to a 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford on Friday night.

However, this doesn’t mean that some of the defensive displays should go unnoticed, none more so than Aaron Wan-Bissaka. We must reserve a special mention for Anthony Martial, who was equally impressive, but Wan-Bissaka was in imperious form after a somewhat shaky start to the season.

The 23-year-old, who earns around £90,000-per-week at Old Trafford, has often been criticised for his perceived lack of creativity in the final third. Against Villa, the defender defied the critics, as the full-back was a real threat bombing up and down the right flank. He picked up the assist for Anthony Martial’s opener but his attacking output didn’t stop there, either, as this was just one of two key passes he produced last night.

As per SofaScore, his performance was graded at 7.9 out of ten for his efforts – the highest rating out of any other player on the pitch including Fernandes and Jack Grealish – he made four tackles, also a game-high metric, two interceptions, two clearances and blocked one shot.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for LA Galaxy right-back Julian Araujo in recent weeks and if he were to join the North London club, it could spell trouble for Matt Doherty.

It has been suggested recently that Spurs are readying a €5 million (£4.45 million) offer for the 19-year-old defender, who has impressed with his performances in the MLS over the past couple of seasons, ahead of the summer transfer window.

The report from AS describes the youngster as one of the top young talents in the MLS and considering he has one goal and two assists for LA Galaxy in the American top-flight so far this season, helping him to a 6.87 average match rating, it is easy to see why.

If he were to join Spurs in the summer, it would only increase the competition Jose Mourinho has at right-back and based on current form, that could prove to be bad news for Doherty.

The Republic of Ireland international has not lived up to expectations since joining from Wolves in the summer and has fallen behind Serge Aurier in the pecking order at the Lilywhites.

He arrived with the reputation of being an attacking full-back who could contribute goals and assists, as he had consistently done with the Old Gold during their time in the Premier League, but he has no goals and just one assist in 17 appearances for the Lilywhites thus far.

After signing the defender in the summer, Mourinho suggested that he was “so happy” with the signing of Doherty but following his sending off against Leeds in the Premier League recently, it seemed clear that the Portuguese manager was far from happy with the 29-year-old defender, and if his performances don’t improve, he may end up making way for Araujo next season, with Spurs perhaps looking to cut their losses after just one year.

The USA international has also featured as a right-winger during his time in the MLS, which suggests that he could prove to be effective in a right-wing back role, similar to the one we saw Mourinho utilise Aurier in during the 3-1 win against Sheffield United last weekend.

So, if Daniel Levy does swoop for the teenage defender during the summer transfer window, it will be interesting to see how much first-team football he will get under Mourinho, and whether he will do enough to displace the £18 million-rated Doherty entirely as Aurier’s understudy.

As jogadas vêm fazendo o treinador rever seus conceitos sobre a postura do Sport:

– Meu time, eu gosto que jogue, chegue na intermediária, passe um pouco e jogue para os lados, para que a gente possa chegar na linha de fundo e fazer o cruzamento. Isso não significa que a gente não pode jogar por dentro, mas o que eu peço é exatamente isso: abrir o adversário, abrir a bola para chegar no fundo do campo – finalizou.
