Loads of Sunderland fans have been giving their verdicts on their squad for next season, and they’ve got some bad news for George Honeyman.

Sunderland should have new owners by the end of this week, according to reports, with Mark Campbell closing in to take the majority share away from Stewart Donald.

The new man in charge has reportedly set his sights on two new signings right off the bat so is not afraid of change, but he does expect to keep Jack Ross as manager.

Next down the line from the manager is of course the captain, and fans have been discussing if Honeyman should keep the armband, or even his place in the team for that matter.

The 24 year-old has split opinion amongst fans with his performances since Ross appointed him captain last summer, as he made 44 appearances in all competitions and became one of the first names on the Scot’s team sheet.

وأوضحت أنه بينما يُعد نادي يوفنتوس الإيطالي وجهة محتملة بالنسبة لـ بوجبا، فإن الرسوم المالية قد تمثل عقبة بالنسبة لبطل الكالتشيو.

وأشارت إلى أن باريس سان جيرمان ليس حاليًا في وضع مالي يجعله قادرًا على تلبية طلبات مانشستر يونايتد للظفر بخدمات بوجبا بسبب التأثير الناتج عن تفشي فيروس كورونا.

Harry Maguire and Manchester United are a romantic tale of old. These two were linked with each other last year and the same story seems to be happening all over again, BBC report in their transfer update. After failing to secure this signing the last summer, Maguire ended up penning a new contract with Leicester City. However, BBC continue to report that the 26-year-old is still very much on United’s radar as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on strengthening his central defensive zones. If those reports are to be believed, and if United are to push for the transfer, it could make for a very good bit of business on their end. Here are two main reasons why they should splash the cash for Maguire.

Value for money

Maguire has been the man of the hour since the 2018 World Cup in Russia where he stood out in a pretty successful England squad and was branded a proper revelation. Ever since then, the interest in the lad has increased and he’s grown to become a well-known player around the globe. That, and his new contract signed last year, pretty much jacked up his price which was initially around £70m, BBC claim. That was probably the main reason United backed away from the deal. Now, though, he looks well worth it.

Last season, he averaged a tackle and 4.5 clearances per game. His passing was also pretty impressive, with his accuracy being 86.1%. But that’s not the only thing that makes him a good defender and footballer. His physical presence, as well as a knack for the offensive with an occasional dribble and three assists in the league, has made him look like the real deal. He’s also both adept at keeping his net safe and the opposition’s under threat. Currently, he’s valued at £45m by Transfermarkt, but Leicester could definitely ask for more and it’s even been reported the price could reach a figure as high as £90m. But even so, it would be cash well spent.

United need defenders, fast

And if this somehow hasn’t been emphasised enough just yet, Manchester United are leaking too many goals and are defensively nowhere near as solid as a big team should be. Whether this is down to their troops not being good enough or down to bad management, is still not completely clear, but they need a fix, and they need it soon. Their reported targeting of Maguire means they are aware of the problem, which is good, but simply being aware is not going to solve their problems. They need to act and do it fast.

Last season alone, they conceded 54 goals, which puts them right in the middle of the table when compared to the rest of the Premier League teams. But if they want to improve and contest for the title in the future, being in the middle of the table in anything won’t cut it anymore.

We can look back on the first 12 months of Unai Emery’s reign at Arsenal mostly with pleasure, but the final few weeks of the 2018/19 season saw it all fall apart. Should the Gunners be able to sign Franck Kessie this summer, though, it would stand them in good stead to avoid last season’s capitulation.

The Ivorian midfielder has been a staple of the AC Milan side over the last couple of seasons since signing for Atalanta, and the 2018/19 season was one that brought seven goals and three assists in Serie A for him. At the age of 22-years-old too, the £27m rated ace has plenty in the tank to fire at The Emirates, stats and valuation via Transfermarkt.

Now all we need is some reliable links to prove that the Milan may actually be set to leave Italy this summer and rock up in North London, which, conveniently, we have via CalcioMercato. It’s a perfect time for Kessie to move too, as his two-year loan at Milan is over and he’s now signed for them permanently, allowing the Rossoneri to sell him on themselves.

How would he fit in at Arsenal is the big question, though? The chances are that Emery would want to slot him into a 4-2-3-1 system, and alongside Lucas Torreira in a double pivot, could enjoy success.

7 goals and 2 assists last season do indicate an ability to push forward and score goals, while 1.2 tackles. 0.8 interceptions and the fact that WhoScored rate ‘blocking the ball’ as one of his strengths would suggest he can operate well in a pivot as a box-to-box option, someone to help join in attacks yet keep the team compact when without the ball.

The best thing for the Gunners to do is to make some headway early this summer. Emery will know that and with midfield one of the key areas to bolster seeing as Aaron Ramsey has left and back at the start of June RSI claimed that Granit Xhaka was close to signing for Inter Milan.

Whether or not Xhaka will leave is still up for debate, but if he is to leave for Inter Milan, what better way to bring in a new man to replace him in their double pivot than by bringing in the younger midfield man Franck Kessie to step into the Arsenal side in his place.

Having seen Pontus Jansson and Mallik Wilks leave the club in recent days, Leeds United are currently facing a fight to prevent midfielder Kalvin Phillips from also making his exit from Elland Road.

Linked with Premier League side Aston Villa earlier on in the transfer window (via the Telegraph), the midfielder’s future with the Whites could hinge on whether he agrees to sign a new deal with the club.

Although Football Insider recently reported that initial talks between Leeds and Phillips were unsuccessful, respected journalist Phil Hay has suggested otherwise on Twitter with the Yorkshire-based outfit set to make the 23-year-old one of their highest earners.

Currently contracted until 2021, Phillips was a mainstay in the Whites’ starting eleven last season, making 46 appearances in all competitions (Transfermarkt) as his side narrowly missed out on promotion to the top-flight despite being favoured for promotion by www.Stoixima24.net.

Unquestionably one of Leeds’ star performers during the previous campaign, the fact that only four players achieved a higher average WhoScored rating than Phillips (6.98) illustrates his importance to Marcelo Bielsa’s side and thus losing him this summer would be a huge blow.

Furthermore, during the Argentine’s reign, the club have won 61.9% of their games with the Thorp Arch academy graduate in their starting line-up compared to a success ratio of 20% in his absence.

Having made the defensive midfield position his own over the past year, there is no guarantee that the Whites will be able to secure an adequate replacement for him if he does move on to pastures new, especially when you consider that there is less than a month left of the transfer window.

Considering that the Whites reportedly cooled their interest in fellow anchor-man Massimo Luongo on Monday (via London Football News), it seems as if they are hell-bent on doing all they can to extend Phillips’ stay at Elland Road.

If the Whites can agree new terms with the midfielder, another push for promotion next season may not be entirely out of the question.
