Having already agreed a deal to sign Shin Yamada, Celtic have now reportedly joined the race to sign a former Premier League striker ahead of Manchester United.

With Nicolas Kuhn joining Serie A side Como 1907, Celtic have reportedly pushed on and agreed a deal to sign Japanese striker Yamada. The 25-year-old, alongside the likes of Benjamin Nygren, will be tasked with replacing the forward’s impact under Brendan Rodgers and looks set to become the latest Japanese player to make his way to the home of the Scottish champions.
The forward is unlikely to be the last name through the door, however. The Bhoys are also reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Royal Antwerp winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha. Following a season full of injury frustration, Balickwisha could be about to enter the most important chapter of his career so far and one he will hope does not feature similar setbacks as last time out.
Replacing a player of Kuhn’s calibre will be no easy task for Rodgers this summer, and it looks as though Celtic are aiming to solve that problem using more than just one target this summer.
In doing so, the Scottish champions will hope to match Kuhn’s output, which saw him score 21 goals and assist another 15 last season.

Whether Yamada, Balickwisha and Benjamin Nygren have enough firepower to put up similar numbers remains the big question, but it doesn’t look as though Celtic are ready to leave things to chance. Instead, the Bhoys have reportedly joined the race to sign another reinforcement.

According to Caught Offside, Celtic are now interested in signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin ahead of the likes of Manchester United this summer. The Englishman is currently a free agent after leaving Everton earlier this summer and has attracted interest from a number of clubs as a result.
Even as a free agent, however, the forward won’t come cheap amid reports that he’s set to demand as much as £100,000-a-week, £5.2m a year, to sign for his next club. It’s already a salary that has forced Manchester United to hesitate, and it is, therefore, one that Celtic will certainly need to assess.

What Matheus Cunha will bring to Man Utd
Amorim will be hoping that Cunha will provide a huge threat at the top end of the pitch as both a scorer and a creator of goals, whether that is as a number ten or as a centre-forward, as he has played in both positions in his career.
Cunha produced an impressive return of 17 goals and six assists in all competitions for the Old Gold in the 2024/25 campaign, whilst he was unfortunate to only register six assists based on the quality of chances that the forward created.
The former Atletico Madrid starlet created 13 ‘big chances’ for his teammates in the Premier League, but his teammates only managed to find the back of the net six times. This suggests that wasteful finishing from his fellow forwards let him down in that respect.

As you can see in the table above, Cunha also scored 27 goals in the Premier League in the last two seasons, which shows that he knows how to find the back of the net on his own, outperforming his xG in both campaigns.
The 26-year-old attacker, therefore, is likely to bring goals and assists to the United team next season, given that he has already proven his quality in the division and could hit the ground running without having to adapt to the league.

The reporter claims that the Premier League giants have “held talks” with the player’s agent about a possible transfer for the Senegal international, who is facing increased competition for his place at Stamford Bridge.

Jackson is far from the perfect centre-forward, and that is to be expected at the age of 24, but he is a player who has scored goals at a respectable rate during his time in England.
A haul of 30 goals and 11 assists in his first two years in English football in all competitions is nothing to be sniffed at. He has shown that he can make a big impact in front of goal, but it is his consistency that needs work.
It is hardly a secret that the Senegal international is not a world-class finisher who is going to score week-in-week-out without getting regular service from creative midfielders, which is why he could be lethal alongside Cunha.
As aforementioned, the Brazil international has showcased his creative quality in the Premier League during his time with Wolves, which suggests that he has the ability to consistently create ‘big chances’ for Jackson to find the back of the net.

As you can see in the table above, the Chelsea striker has hit double figures for goals in both of his seasons in the top-flight, but he has also underperformed his xG both times.
This shows that Jackson, who was hailed as “unbelievable” by Peter Crouch, does have the quality to score goals on a regular basis, whilst also creating high-quality opportunities for his teammates, but he needs plenty of service to do so.

Hamilton effectively replaces Darren Gough, who left his role as director of cricket earlier this year, though he will have oversight of the women’s team as well as the men’s.Hamilton, 50, played his only Test in November 1999, a match best remembered for England’s top-order collapse to 2 for 4 on the opening morning. Everton’s pre-season preparations have left plenty to be desired. Still, David Moyes proved his wherewithal upon replacing Sean Dyche last season and will remain confident that a successful season lies ahead.
Against the backdrop of the Premier League’s heavy expenditure this summer, Everton has forked out comparatively little. A new striker has been signed in Thierno Barry, while an initial £25m deal has been agreed with Chelsea for the transfer of robust midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
However, there was a blue-shaded exodus on Merseyside in June, with so many unwanted players filtering out. Two of those players were Jesper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison, whose loan deals remained temporary.
Now, a replacement is needed.
Everton submit bid for new attacking midfielder
Dewsbury-Hall, 26, will add impetus to the Everton midfield. He’s strong, cultured and confident on the ball, having starred during Leicester City’s promotion-winning campaign of 2023/24, posting 12 goals and 15 assists under Enzo Maresca’s wing that year.
His time at Stamford Bridge might not have worked out, but he stands a fantastic chance of becoming a mainstay in Moyes’ Everton system, potentially forging a neat partnership with another top target.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Everton have tabled a second bid for Southampton prospect Tyler Dibling worth £40m including add-ons.
An earlier summer offer has already been rejected, and the 19-year-old is also on Aston Villa and Newcastle United’s radar. Southampton, it is felt, want £50m for their prized playing asset.
This said, Everton will not – cannot – pay over the odds for this talented teenager, and the Friedkin Group are prepared to walk away if Saints fail to reduce their exorbitant valuation.
Why Everton should sign Tyler Dibling
Southampton suffered a wretched return to the Premier League last season, narrowly missing out on the unwanted record of bearing the division’s all-time lowest points total.
But they were relegated all the same. However, Dibling shone as a beacon of solace throughout, making good on the praise from Southampton’s academy manager, Andy Goldie, that he is a “world-class talent.”
He scored four goals and supplied three assists across the 2024/25 campaign, but, as per Sofascore, to have completed 84% of his passes and averaged 4.2 successful duels in the Premier League, in a rotten Southampton side, that’s an indicator of sky-high potential.
And he’s dynamic in a positional sense too.

He’s versatile all right. But given the lack of depth on the right flank at Everton, coupled with his blistering speed and ability to manipulate tight spaces, it’s clear that Moyes wants to field him on the wing.
Especially with the Merseysiders set to wrap up a move for Dewsbury-Hall, who is very much a central midfielder. But he’s a creative one at that, hailed by former Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers in the past as being a player who “typifies everything we want to be,” bringing energy and intensity and creativity.
The Englishman ranked among the top 5% of centre-midfielders in the Conference League last term for progressive passes and the top 9% for shot-creating actions per 90, as per FBref, highlighting the smooth passing game which could open up a world of opportunity for the fleet-footed Dibling as he surges forward, into the danger area.
With these kinds of signings, Everton are bound to evolve, and Moyes’ vision for the future might just begin to take shape.

ENTENDA O CASO
Na última terça-feira, oMinistério Público de Goiás (MP-GO) iniciou a Operação Penalidade Máxima II, que visa investigar a atuação de uma organização criminosa na manipulação de resultados de jogos de futebol, inclusive da Série A do Brasileirão. O órgão informou que já foram cumpridos três mandados de prisão preventiva e 20 de busca e apreensão em 16 municípios de seis estados brasileiros. Um destes mandados foi contra o zagueiro Victor Ramos, da Chapecoense, conforme publicado pelo portal “ND Mais”, filiado à “Record TV”.
Segundo o MP-GO, há suspeitas de que o grupo criminoso tenha atuado em pelo menos cinco jogos do Brasileirão de 2022, além de cinco partidas de Campeonatos Estaduais deste ano. A investigação descobriu que os criminosos tentavam cooptar jogadores de futebol com ofertas entre R$50 mil e R$100 mil para que interferissem em eventos dos jogos. A interferência beneficiaria os apostadores em detrimento das casas de apostas, que estariam sendo lesadas pelas manipulações.
A nova investigação é um desdobramento da Operação Penalidade Máxima, que identificou suspeita de manipulação em jogos da Série B do Brasileirão no ano passado.
