Patrick Vieira Has Play Fight With Roy Keane

Fans online have loved playful footage of Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira having a joke fight with Manchester United icon Roy Keane.

What’s the history between Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira?

The retired player’s two former clubs were in Premier League action on the weekend, with the Gunners losing to Brighton & Hove Albion and Man United beating Wolves.

With that being the case, the duo were on punditry duty for Sky Sports at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon and it was a chance for old adversaries to get reacquainted.

After all, the pair were once captains of their respective teams when the rivalry was perhaps at its most intense.

Famously, back in 2005, Keane and Vieira actually clashed in the cramped Highbury tunnel before a game had even begun – showing just how fired up they were by the rivalry.

Fellow pundit and ex-United man Gary Neville once explained what had happened, telling Soccer AM (via Goal): “I could hear these footsteps behind me and Vieira shouting, ‘Neville! Neville! You’re not going to kick our players out on this pitch today,'” Neville recalled.

“Roy obviously turned back, heard him and started having a go at him. He [Vieira] sort of squirted his water bottle towards Roy, then all hell broke loose.”

It seems as though the relationship has cooled a bit since then, as evidenced by the playful sparring match caught on camera by Sky Sports this weekend.

It seems fans online enjoyed the light-hearted moment. Here are some of the best reactions on Twitter…

Some still backed Keane.

And others were behind Vieira.

Aston Villa Could Sign Watkins Partner In £215k-p/w ‘Monster’

Aston Villa are reportedly looking ahead to the summer transfer window, as a celebrated talisman in Europe has been linked with a move to Villa Park.

The Midlands club have been the centre of speculation as the summer window edges closer, looking to build on the success of Unai Emery’s first season by strengthening with new recruits.

With just one game remaining of a memorable Premier League campaign, Villa are a win away from making their European dreams come true in a year that has seen change for the better for the club.

Emery has got the claret and blue firing again, as well as holding a sturdy defence, Villa Park has hosted some impressive football throughout his time in charge so far.

Despite getting things to tick, the Spaniard told The Athletic in April of his desire to capture another striker in the summer transfer window, with one name being linked to a shock move.

What’s the latest on Dusan Vlahovic to Aston Villa?

As reported by Sam Dean at the Telegraph earlier this month, Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic is speculated to be on Emery’s wishlist this summer.

The report states the four-time Europa League-winning coach is considering an “ambitious swoop” for the Serbian forward.

Spanish news outlet AS previously valued the hitman in the region of a whopping €110m (£96m), so any move could be tricky to negotiate.

What could Dusan Vlahovic bring to Aston Villa?

Likened by FBref to Manchester City talisman Erling Haaland, Villa could erase all thought of worry regarding their attack in recruiting the 23-year-old.

As per Transfermarkt, the forward has scored 93 goals in his professional career, as well as registering 20 assists in 183 games at senior level.

Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.

The Serbian could provide Emery with a long-term partner for current line-leader Ollie Watkins, who has netted 14 goals this season in the Premier League so far.

Not only could the Juventus striker act as part of a goal-scoring duo with the Englishman but could provide healthy competition to maintain high levels of performance.

As per WhoScored, the two possess attributes that suggest they could form a dream partnership at Villa Park, with Watkins’ strengths in playing the ball for a layoff, paired with Vlahovic’s innate finishing ability.

The £215k-per-week ace also offers a real aerial threat to the attack, standing at 6 foot 3 and being lauded as a “monster” by journalist Carlo Garganese, for his strength and presence when leading the line.

Finding a natural goalscorer is the ultimate prize in the summer transfer window, and having been identified as one of the most prolific at his trade in Europe, Vlahovic will be in demand this summer.

Pakistan A romped to an eight-wicket win against Sri Lanka A in the opening game of the triangular series, also involving England Lions, in Cheltenham on Monday.Pakistan A’s bowlers backed Babar Azam’s decision to field as Sri Lanka A were dismantled for 199 in 37.5 overs. In reply, Fakhar Zaman (74) and Sharjeel Khan (90), their openers, shared a 155-run stand that helped Pakistan cruise. They eventually sealed the win with 97 balls to spare.Pakistan’s bowlers hunted in packs, but it was Mohammad Asghar, the left-arm spinner, who inflicted the bulk of the damage, taking 4 for 41 in 10 overs.Asghar, introduced in the 14th over with Sri Lanka A reduced to 94 for 3 after a blazing start, struck in consecutive overs to remove Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Ashan Priyanjan, the captain. Angelo Perera then resisted with 35, but there was little contribution of note otherwise.Abbas, the right-arm pacer, took three wickets, but was expensive and leaked 50 runs in seven overs. Bhatti took 2 for 40 in eight overs, while left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz took the last wicket to fall – Lakshan Sandakan.Any hopes Sri Lanka’s bowlers may have had of picking early wickets and bouncing back were emphatically shattered by Zaman and Sharjeel, who kept them at bay for 23.1 overs, scoring at well over a run-a-ball. Zaman hit seven fours and three sixes in his 77-ball knock, while Sharjeel was equally aggressive by striking at 121.62 courtesy 12 fours and four sixes. Both batsmen were dismissed in the space of 25 deliveries by Kasun Rajitha, the right-arm medium pacer, but Umar Siddiq and Abdul Rehman Muzammil made sure to avoid further losses. The second match of the series takes place on Tuesday, with Pakistan facing off against England Lions at the same venue.

Former PL £64K p/w Ace Could Replace West Ham’s Rice

West Ham United have had one of their strangest seasons in living memory and have gone from fearing for their Premier League safety to becoming Europa Conference League finalists in a matter of weeks.

David Moyes has turned things around in east London in recent times and has been helped by an improvement in his side's performances, which has been spearheaded by club captain Declan Rice.

The England international has attracted plenty of interest in his services this summer, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United all keen to entice him away from the London Stadium, as per Sky Sports.

Rice leaving would leave a huge hole to fill in the midfield for the Hammers, though one reported target could make all the difference heading into next season in the form of Marseille ace Matteo Guendouzi.

What's the latest news involving Matteo Guendouzi?

As per talkSPORT, Guendouzi is high up on a list of targets at West Ham to potentially replace Rice in the event he leaves the London Stadium, with Aston Villa also said to be courting his signature.

The report states that the Frenchman, who is previously of Arsenal, could end up becoming an important cog in Rice's exit being finalised at West Ham, as they will need to bolster their squad with a high-profile addition if their captain is to depart.

Guendouzi has been previously praised by Hertha Berlin sporting director Arne Friedrich for his professionalism during his time on loan in the German capital, as per The Observer via The Evening Standard, who stated: “When you talk about Guendouzi and see his skills, you realise that he is a great player. I’ve also read that he had problems at Arsenal but here he behaves very well. He puts all of himself on the field."

In 2022/23, the 24-year-old has showcased how he could potentially provide an offensive threat from the middle of the park for West Ham, registering five goals and five assists in 41 appearances for Marseille, as per Transfermarkt.

FBRef also shows how calm-natured Guendouzi is in possession, as he has excelled in comparison to his positional peers across Europe's top five leagues in the art of pass completion, retaining an average over the last 365 days of 86.5% per 90 minutes, ranking him in the second percentile for this metric.

Matteo-Guendouzi-in-action-for-Marseille

Much like Rice, Guendouzi is able to command the midfield with his technical ability and drive his team forward with his consent displays on the field.

As per Le Provence via Get French Football News, former Marseille coach Jorge Sampaoli lauded Guendouzi last year for his leadership qualities, stating in an interview: “Aside from his youth, Mattéo has a particular energy. He has a desire to win and he’s a natural leader. We imagined that would be the case but that it would happen over time. Seeing this in addition to his performances, we have an energy that everyone can envy. It’s contagious and it’s a very important value in life. Experience is important for everyone but, for young people, sometimes difficult events are not good experiences. There’s also personal capacity on the mental side. Guendouzi, for example, he’s 22-years-old but he acts like he’s 30. The most important thing is maturity.”

His good form this season resulted in a call-up to play for France in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, with the €73,846 (£64,126) per week earner going on to feature once for Les Blues on their run to the final of the competition.

Speaking to Football FanCast, journalist Dean Jones has revealed that Guendouzi is one of many midfield options the Hammers are considering, saying: "He’s one of many options but we have to see how this season ends and be absolutely sure what path the club are on in terms of letting Rice go and also what say Moyes has in how they grow from here."

If Rice is to seek a new challenge, Guendouzi has the presence, personality and ability to go down as a hit at the London Stadium if Moyes can get a deal over the line. And, he may be available for a bargain fee of £27 million.

Skipper Sam Northeast led the way as Kent maintained their one-day stranglehold over Somerset with a 12-run NatWest T20 Blast group win at Taunton.Kent posted 187 for 5 after losing the toss, Northeast top-scoring with 75 off 42 balls, with 9 fours and 2 sixes. Joe Denly contributed 35 and Alex Blake 26 not out, while Roelof van der Merwe was the most economical Somerset bowler, conceding 28 from his four overs. In reply, the hosts managed 175 for 9, with only Peter Trego showing the necessary aggression and quality, scoring 63 off just 34 balls, with eight fours and three sixes. Darren Stevens claimed 3 for 30.It was Kent’s eighth straight win over Somerset in the one-day competitions, but both sides look set for elimination before the knock-out stage. After a slight delay because of rain, the match started with no overs lost and Kent were soon on the attack, taking 17 off the third over, bowled by Jamie Overton. Tom Latham had contributed 12 to an opening stand of 27 with Denly when chipping Lewis Gregory straight to Jim Allenby at mid-wicket.Denly hit the first six of the game off van der Merwe before Northeast smashed four successive boundaries off Tim Groenewald at the start of the sixth over, which ended with Kent 59 for 1 from the Powerplay. The score had reached 85 when Denly, who had faced 29 balls, was caught and bowled by Max Waller, diving to his right.Northeast went to his half-century with a six off Overton in the 12th over, having faced 27 balls and hit 7 fours and a six. The following over from Groenewald saw Sam Billings brilliantly caught on the midwicket boundary by van der Merwe for 14.Northeast finally fell to Overton, who along with Groenewald and Waller proved expensive, in the 17th over, but by then Kent were on course for a challenging score.Somerset’s reply started badly as openers Johann Myburgh and Mahela Jayawardene fell in the first 19 balls, to Kagiso Rabada and Stevens respectively. But Trego was in typically aggressive mood against his old county, counter attacking with a six off Mitch Claydon and two more maximums off the following over from David Griffiths as Somerset matched Kent’s total of 59 off the Powerplay.Trego went to fifty off 28 balls but was receiving little support as Allenby, having taken 19 balls to reach 20, was bowled playing back to Fabian Cowdrey.Michael Leask was reprieved on nought as, having been given out stumped by Billings off Cowdrey, he was sportingly recalled by the Kent wicketkeeper, who had not been in control of the ball. The key moment came in the 13th over when Trego attempted another six off Cowdrey and was caught at long-off by Latham.Leask was run out going for a second off Cowdrey before the wily Stevens bowled Gregory with the first ball of the 16th over and Overton with the last, conceding only four runs in between.Somerset required 13 an over off the last four. Despite an entertaining cameo from van der Merwe, a further clatter of wickets left them well short.

Chelsea’s Boehly Can Make Best Signing Yet In £91k p/w Ace

Chelsea have been poor this campaign and will be desperate for the close of play to arrive so they can focus on what is set to be a busy summer ahead at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues will take on Newcastle United on Sunday at home in the Premier League before taking a break to regroup before 2023/24. Mauricio Pochettino is expected to take the reins in SW6 in the off-season following a lengthy manager search by the Blues' hierarchy.

Sizing up potential transfer incomings and outgoings will be a key task for the Argentine upon arrival and Chelsea have been linked with some high-profile players as they eye another spending spree under Todd Boehly.

The Guardian report that Pochettino has earmarked Napoli striker Victor Osimhen as a target for his rebuild in west London as he looks to add an elite forward to the Chelsea attack to lead from the front next term.

What's the latest transfer news involving Victor Osimhen and why is he so effective?

As cited by The Guardian, Osimhen is indeed 'on the radar' at Stamford Bridge; however, it is believed that it would take a 'huge fee' to entice the Nigeria international away from the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Speaking to Football FanCast, journalist Ben Jacobs has echoed the sentiment that Chelsea pulling off a deal to sign Osimhen will be 'difficult' to do.

Jacobs told FFC: "I think that alongside Vlahovic, for Chelsea, Victor Osimhen remains a target and player that they hugely admire, but everybody chasing Victor Osimhen is well aware of how difficult that deal is to pull off. People forget sometimes what Napoli paid, which was €80 million all in, including bonuses and the valuation put on players that were also part of the deal to Lille, but the all in number is €80 million when everything is included. As a consequence, with the form that Osimhen is on and the level of interest when Napoli are asking for a fee well in excess of £100 million, that isn't because they're being greedy, it's because they are aware that Osimhen has significantly improved in value since they signed him. Because the fee that they paid to Lille was so hefty, it's obvious that, if possible, they would like something close to double what they paid and that's where this approximate number of €150 million comes from."

It is no surprise that interest in Osimhen is strong from Chelsea, as the 24-year-old has registered 28 goals and five assists in 37 appearances this term across all competitions, as per Transfermarkt.

victor-osimhen-napoli-chelsea-transfer-gossip-pochettino-haaland-guardiola

Former Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has likened the £91k-a-week earner to Didier Drogba in a recent interview with Sky Sports via METRO, saying: "I see a lot of similarities but it’s unfair to compare players from different eras. They both play with a lot of physicality and they are both very good with scoring, taking their opportunities. He’s a very complete player. He’s got a good reference going forward, he can link up play and he’s devastating in the air. He’s a pest to defenders."

Bringing in Osimhen would be a real coup for Chelsea and there is an argument to say that he would be the best signing of Blues' co-owner Boehly's era so far. According to WhoScored, the frontman has averaged 4.2 shots per match in Serie A this campaign, demonstrating his ability to constantly trouble opposition backlines.

FBRef also show that the Nigerian has been among the elite forwards in Europe's top five divisions and has fared well in regard to his positional peers in the art of non-penalty goals in the last 365 days, averaging 0.85 per 90 minutes, putting Osimhen in the second percentile for this metric.

As per Tuttonapoli via GOAL, ex-Roma forward Ciccio Graziani has praised Osimhen's qualities as a striker, stating: “He's the top scorer in Serie A, he scores goals in every game. Maybe it won't be beautiful to see but he's effective. The highest performance in the entire league and it's the one that affects the most, so for me, he's my player in Serie A at the moment."

In a time of need for Chelsea, bringing Osimhen to Stamford Bridge would be the perfect tonic for the Blues to get back to challenging for major silverware in 2023/24.
